Fury of Firestorm!!!

Firestorm is the ongoing adventures of two dudes that can't stand eachother, have the "firestorm" transformational super-powers (scientifically can transform elements into other elements, turn fire into water, baking soda into gold, stuff like that) which they are in control of but should they lose control, get angry, they combine to make a horrific elemental monster firestorm.

Gail Simone and Ethan Van Sciver did write, but now Joe Harris and Ethan Van Sciver write the monthly title, with Yilderay Cinar on art.

Green Arrow

Now the Batman Parallels are unavoidable... but rich mega-mogul Oliver Queen decides to buy super gadgets and fight crime.  Namely a Bow and arrow.  known for his "trick arrows" like... the punching glove arrow.

He was a jolly swashbuckling like fellow, but has since become more cerebral and serious.  No punching glove arrows anymore.  sadly.

JT Krul WAS writing, but now Keith Giffen and Dan Jurgans, along with Dan Jurgans on art duties provides us with the monthly adventures.

Batman & Robin

Ok so, I wasn't happy with the OTHER sketch as my Batman & Robin entry.  I definitely dug much deeper for this piece.  Batman & Robin leaping outta the Batmobile!

And the media difference (ink vs. pencil) is very much noticable.  I bought a Faber-Castell Pitt brush marker, quite a famous tool in the comic book and graphic fields, but I had yet to try.  I liked its ease of use for sure (spotting blacks has always been difficult for me, this helps negotiate with your fear of "wrecking it").

Batman & Robin is the comic of Bruce Wayne and his SON Damian Wayne working out the dynamic of being crime-fighting partners and having family drama. Written by Peter Tomasi and Drawn by Patrick Gleason

Batman and Robin

Pretty self Explanatory.

Men of War

Men of War is the NEW Sgt. Rock cutting his teeth on leadership with the boys of easy company... and becoming sgt rock.  Its primarily a war/military book that flirts with the DC universes' superpowered peeps and situations.

This is just a sketch I was doing that kinda fleshed out more than I intended to, and I wasn't gonna post it, but I thought it was too ridiculous NOT to post it.  ha.  The jumping panel really needs to be its own spash page.  A truer Men of War entry is coming.

Written by Ivan Brandon, drawn by Tom Derenick.

Frankenstein

Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E.

He and a group of lively un-dead folk are sent out on missions, eliminate other bigger, less reasonable monsters.  Frank wears some pretty cool torn victorian/colonial military garb, and has a giant bat-gatling gun.

Written by Jeff Lemire (writes the fantastic Animal Man and Sweet Tooth) and drawn by the either brilliant or insane (I seriously can't tell) Alberto Ponticelli

Batman

In the main Batman comic Scott Snyder is writing really fun stuff, and capullo's drawing ease is pretty much kicking my ass.

Scott has introduced an Owl antagonist for Batman, as is described in the comic (and true in reality), Owl's are natural predators of bats.  dun dun dun!

I might re-draw this bigger and dig a bit deeper with the attacking owls.

Halfway Justice League sketch!

Half-way through!  So here's a teaser of the Justice League finale post (the last post in the blog will fittingly be the JL) The direction it's heading is good, playing around with an hourglass composition. Aquaman needs some serious re-working/purpose.

Legion Lost

Legion Lost is a Team book about the legion of superheroes from waaaay in the future coming back to the past.  getting into trouble, trying not to change the future too much.  Butterfly effect and all.

Haven't cracked this book, none of the Legion books have ever been my cup of tea.  A bit too... chemical maybe.

A couple of fun costumes and a couple aliens to draw.

Fabian Nicieza writes (his x-force run with Capullo was a huge influence on me actually) and Pete Woods Draws.

Dananananananana Batgirl!

Batgirl.  Barbara Gordon.  Back on her feet miraculously (was paralyzed by the joker)!

Fun little sketch.  I am well aware of how bad the background is.  Maybe I should have just deleted it instead of sketching it in so quick. And her rope is doing some impossibly great things.

Her monthly exploits brought to us by Gail Simone and Adrian Syaf

Supergirl! UPDATED

Kara, Supermans cousin has come to the New52 aswell, back to more of a nice girl look (which is actually quite counter-intuitive to most of the female characters updated), rather than the waifish michael turner era glitterati version.

Her newest adventures are brought to us by Michael Green and Mike Johnson.  Great, less is more illustration by Mahmud Asrar.  He's going places, you can see it in his art.

Pencil (photoshopped in some space gray). 11x17.

Might colour this. Update:  I Did!  Got a little lazy with the background.

That Voodoo that she doo.

Priscilla Kitaen, or "Voodoo" was a stripper turned superhero, in the former wildstorm universe, and a part of the Wildc.a.t.s team.  She was quite vivacious back then, but is much more... subdued now.

In this folded-in version, she is still a half Daemonite (alien) former stripper and is trying to reconcile being half vicious, grotesque cruel alien, and a beautiful earthwoman.  It seems at times of need she can switch to a hybrid form that is stronger, faster and has special powers?

Ron Marz writes and Sami Basri draws.

Resurrection Man keeps coming back

Resurrection Man seems pretty self explanatory, and to a point he is, but everytime he comes back to life he has a completely different super power.  It's not always the most useful superpower, but it could also be the best ever.  Its random.

"So if he came back to life with a shitty superpower, would he just commit suicide?"  Good Question!

Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning (DnA) write this fun title, and Fernando Blanco Draws.

Ink Pen.  8.5x11

The main drawing is a pretty obvious concept piece, and I just liked the other sketches and thought to include them.  Channeled a bit of Hitch on the windy portrait.

Stormwatch

Former members of Wildstorms' Authority and Stormwatch titles are blended here with a few new and a Martian Manhunter for good measure.

They're the team that handles everything in the under current of the universe.  The unseen larger than life catastrophes and dark secrets disasters that must stay unseen.

Formerly notorious for two characters; Apollo and Midnighter (superman and batman parallels), are/were a genre breaking gay couple.

This is back-to-back posts of Paul Cornell written entries! Miguel Sepulveda Draws.

(Honestly not wowed by my own entry here, but I would love a crack at these characters, I will have to do another post)
